According to this, up to 165,000 terawatt hours of green hydrogen can be produced annually in West Africa alone. This corresponds to more than 100 times the amount of green hydrogen that Germany will probably have to import in 2050. By comparison, the installed capacity of offshore wind power plants in Germany is currently about 8 gigawatts and is expected to grow to 40 gigawatts by 2040. The potential of West Africa is therefore huge \u2013 and inexpensive.
