The walls of Germany’s “climate prison” (Franz Josef Radermacher) are getting thicker and thicker. In a ruling dated January 29, 2026, the Federal Administrative Court in Leipzig called for greater efforts to achieve national climate neutrality by 2045. This is entirely in line with the position of the Federal Constitutional Court. Franz Josef Radermacher considers this development, whereby German climate policy is essentially determined by the courts, to be disastrous. He explains this in his lecture, also given at the GES event last December.
