After COP30, it is still unlikely that global CO2emissions will fall in the foreseeable future – quite the contrary. For this sad reason, the issue of adaptation is becoming increasingly important. What remains is to seek and form “coalitions of the willing” that try to get as many others on board as possible. Of course, this does not do justice to the task at hand. It is also to be hoped that the figures from Baku will be used in future to finally oblige industrialised countries to engage in international cooperation on a large scale and to ensure the efficient use of funds at home. – This is the conclusion of Estelle Herlyn from Belém.
