Namibia has the potential to become a highly attractive location for the production of green hydrogen and green ammonia. However, exporting hydrogen to Europe remains expensive, particularly if the ammonia has to be cracked back into hydrogen in Europe. For this reason, regional use within Namibia usually makes more economic sense. The key opportunity lies in how affordable local green energy can be harnessed to drive sustainable industrial development – both within Namibia itself and in partnership with Europe.
