Carlos Lange is responsible for the Green Energy Europe division of Fortescue Future Industries (FFI). The Australian company is the world’s fourth largest producer of iron ore. The aim is to reduce CO2 in mining and its own value chain to zero. In the interview, Carlos Lange reports on projects for the production of green electricity and green energy sources. In Norway, for example, green hydrogen is to be produced at the end of 2027 using hydropower and electrolysis. This in turn will be used to produce ammonia, 240,000 tonnes a year, which will be shipped to Europe. The price per tonne is expected to be around 1,000 euros. This could put Fortescue in competition with the Neom project in Saudi Arabia, where green ammonia is also to be produced.
