GES Paper: An Effective Climate Policy for Germany: Affordable, Effective and Globally Transferable

An excerpt: “The German energy transition represents a special path in international comparison, because no other country is simultaneously phasing out fossil energies and nuclear power. This special path causes immense costs, which are primarily borne by the citizens. At the same time, it only makes a small contribution to achieving the global climate protection goals and proves to be unrealistic in terms of its implementation.

Internationally, this path is not peacekeeping, neither with regard to China, Russia and the oil states nor with regard to the developing and emerging countries. Without the close involvement of China, Russia and the oil states, there will be no solution to the global climate problem. These countries will not allow a strategy to be imposed on them that cannot succeed and at the same time massively threatens their prosperity. Especially in view of the fact that there are other options for solving the climate problem. For example, with carbon capture, a process exists that is compatible with continued use of fossil fuels.”
